Founding Story
AntiGravity did not emerge out of thin air. It was forged in it.
Founded by Christopher Harrison, AntiGravity grew from decades of aerial performance, gymnastics, dance, invention, and human movement research. What began as a way to train performers evolved into a global fitness and wellness system using the Harrison AntiGravity® Hammock to help people strengthen, decompress, recover, and rediscover freedom in their bodies.
The Lab is where that evolution continues.
Our Vision
We believe the future of fitness is intelligent, embodied, and recovery-aware.
AntiGravity invites people to train not only strength and flexibility, but also balance, coordination, sensory awareness, nervous system regulation, and Kinesthetic Intelligence. We call it “against graveness” because AntiGravity is about more than going upside down. It is about becoming lighter in body and mind.
Our Mission
At AntiGravity Lab, we deliver NYC’s highest-quality AntiGravity experience through safety, integrity, inclusivity, and originality. We use the Harrison AntiGravity® Hammock to support strength, mobility, decompression, mindful movement, nervous system recovery, and joyful exploration.

MEET OUR FOUNDER
Christopher Harrison
Founder, AntiGravity® Fitness
Christopher Harrison is the Founder & Artistic Director of AntiGravity®, an entertainment and fitness brand established in 1991. Mr. Harrison has been practicing aerial arts and yoga since the early 1990’s, dance and Pilates since the 1980’s and gymnastics since the 1970’s. As a former world-class competitive gymnastics specialist/coach who danced on Broadway, he formed the acrobatic performance team AntiGravity® as an expression of his love for creating movement.
Mr. Harrison is the inventor of the AntiGravity Hammock and creator of AntiGravity Boots as a performance device, apparatus in which his company has performed with the top pop artists of the day. Mr. Harrison holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Utah. He performed as a dancer on Broadway and in feature films before starting his New York based company.
As the Artistic Director for AntiGravity Inc. his achievements in his field are unprecedented. He has produced, directed and choreographed hundreds of original high-profile productions worldwide and created careers for hundreds of athletes. As a choreographer has created multiple movement vocabularies with unique apparatus that have been admired world-wide. He is also a Broadway Aerial Choreographer who has been influential in numerous Tony nominations and two Tony awards. He holds a diploma from the XIX Olympic Winter Games for his participation as a creator in the spectacle events.
As the creator of AntiGravity® Yoga and AntiGravity® Pilates, his silk hammock invention and its certified programs spawned a new genre entitled “suspension fitness”. The techniques stemmed from his own need for physical rehabilitation and spinal decompression. His intention with these programs is to inspire the world to greater health, wealth and happiness through his creations. Mr. Harrison’s guarantee: “If one can ‘suspend their disbelief’ I can bring them to better health and less pain, increase their physical height, and allow them to feel the joy of flying in just one class.”
His background is in competitive gymnastics where as a tumbling specialist he took second place in the nation and fourth place at the USSAF World Games in 1978. Christopher is arguably the first person in the U.S. to perform a full twisting back flip from a standing position. He went on to tumble and cheer for his University. While there he created an acrobatic partnering technique called “cheernastics” which he taught to college cheersquads through the United Spirit Association in conjunction with then unknown Paula Abdul. The principles of his technique helped pave the way to the now popular sport of Power Cheering. Christopher spent his early years as a gymnastics coach and program creator forming acrobatic outreach programs in NYC communities for kids. He currently sits on the board of the Wendy Hilliard Foundation, dedicated to bringing fitness to underprivileged youth and on her behalf represented at the 2012 NYC Olympic Bid in Singapore. Mr. Harrison was awarded the “New Yorker of the Week” by Time Warner for his work with inspiring fitness in children during the NYC Goodwill Games.
At the core of all of Mr. Harrison’s work is the desire to motivate and inspire fitness in others with his passion for expression through physicality. www.anti-gravity.com

When she isn’t at the Lab, you can find her mentoring youth in the surf breaks of Queens or the climbing gym. Quekan Anike invites her students to leave their ego at the door, find their breath, and discover the joy of flight.

Tina Hwan
Instructor
I first started Antigravity with the Lab as a student taking classes and it very quickly became my happy place where it gave a peace of mind. My passion for teaching Antigravity grew because I'd like more people to feel what I feel; the chance to de-stress, a moment to find inner peace, as well as feeling relaxed, energized, and accomplished with a smile on their faces.

What Our Community Says
I took the introductory acro yoga class on Saturday afternoon. Professor Tina made all the difference in the class experience. She is very skilled and gave me the confidence to do an aerial flip safely and securely. I am overweight and have been sedentary for a while, so I was feeling insecure, but she guided me and managed to give attention even to a class full of students
Pamela AlonsoMy bestfriend and I took a class over the weekend. We had a great time. It was nothing like I expected. It was an intense workout but so much fun. The instructor was amazing, very thorough yet personable. We would definitely do it again!
Vicky AdelsonI would give Antigravity Yoga 10 stars if I could! I tried aerial yoga for the first time and found the instructions clear, easy to understand and follow. I had a great workout and the most fun doing it. Didn't want the class to end! Melted all my stress away, and left in a great mood, SO GOOD! 🙌
Haley StephensonBeen to antigravity lab quite a few times because I just fell in love with it. The founder of the school teaches and he’s a great coach. He really encourages you to do your best, nothing more nothing less. Awesome classes!! My abs are already getting stronger just after a few classes.
